Alexia Abegg at Craftopia Needs YOUR help...

I'm BACK... I'm going to SEW this weekend!!  Tonight Actually, and I can't wait!  I have a few posts planned for the next few days as I "Get back on the horse"... But for now I am posting this, with only 6 hours remaining in which action can be taken...

Today, I am happy to give a big plug for an amazing sewist, quilter, and craftsperson. Many of you may be familiar with Alexia Abegg, who blogs at Craftopia. And if you don't, you should. Her work is amazing and I have drawn much inspiration from her beautiful creations. I've also been fortunate enough to meet her at Quilt Market, and she is as sweet as she is talented.

So many of us dream of how we can turn our creative passions into a career. Well, Alexia has taken the proverbial bull by the horns. She submitted a proposal to Kickstarter to raise funds to get her pattern business, Green Bee Pattern Co., off of the ground, and she was accepted!

(Not familiar with Kickstarter? They bill themselves as "a new way to fund & follow creativity." They help people kickstart their business ideas to the next level.)

She's nearly reached her goal but, with only a few hours left, she needs some help.

So, my plea today is this: help a fellow member of our vibrant sewing & quilting community realize her dream. Consider checking out Alexia's Kickstarter page and learn more about what she is trying to do. Let's demonstrate how we continue to support one another.

Thanks, all ... and good luck, Alexia!

Until Next Time,
Paul

Boys Club...

I am excited to announce that I am arranging a 12 month quilting project for MALE quilters from all over the world to take place in 2012.

Each quilter will create one block every month, sign and send his block to another quilter, thus, every quilter will receive one block each month from a different quilter.  At the end of the year, everyone will have made, sent, and received 12 blocks from 12 different quilters.

The 12 months will begin in January, which will allow me to get through my "busy time" at work and still have time to do all of the organizational stuff that needs tending to.
I am right now writing some guidelines, (block size, colorways, and beginning to identify block patterns) and beginning to work on some of the logistical stuff.

I already have a dozen men who have indicated that they would like to participate.  If you are a male and you are interested in participating, shoot me an email and I will add you to my list.  If you know a male quilter who might be interested in participating, shoot him a link to my blog.... More to come SOON...

Until Next Time,
Paul
