NEW Endeavor

I have heard from several of you asking where I've been and how I've been, and I must say it is flattering and encouraging to know that people care.

Truth is, I am doing just fine.  I have just taken on a new endeavor that has been eating up my free time in a way I never expected it would.  I accepted the position of Treasurer for a local Non Profit Children's Choir.  I was not fully aware of what I was getting into, and then after getting involved a LOT of things changed very quickly and I soon became involved in much more than just "keeping the books".

Thursday nights were always my "Quilt Nights" as my wife and kids were away at choir every Thursday night.  Due to my new "role" in the choir, I am now there every Thursday as well.  So, my "built in" night for sewing is no longer there.

We also adopted MaryAnna.  (Well, she has moved in and all of the documents have been signed, by law the adoption will not be finalized until February or March.)  MaryAnna is 16 years old and getting her settled has been very time consuming.  First we had to get her enrolled in school, which due to our circumstances was not an easy thing to accomplish.  We also completely re-decorated her room to suit her.  Walls were painted, lighting fixtures were replaced, flooring was replaced, blinds were put on the window, etc.  In fact, the only thing that saw no changes other than some paint was the closet.  New furniture then had to be found, ordered, and assembled.  She is now fully "unpacked" and "moved in" to her new room.  Everything except the window treatments and her quilt are done.  I should be able to get back on my machine soon as the curtains definitely need to be completed.  And she wants me to finish her quilt, it's starting to get cold at night...

I have also won a bunch of stuff over the past month, so very soon I will post all of my goodies and get back to sewing, after all, taking care of everything else is rewarding, but we need to take care of ourselves too right?

Speaking of which, I have lost 11.25 pounds in the past week... woo hoo!!  Only 68.75 more to go!

Until Next Time,  (Hopefully MUCH sooner than last time!)
Paul

  1. Good to know you are still alive and kicking. I haven't followed you for very long so I am not familiar with the MaryAnna story, but I commend you for giving a home to a child who needed one, whatever the circumstance.
I'm guessing you got the envelope of selvages I sent you. I was going to email you when I mailed them, but I forgot.
Congrats on the weight loss! Always a victory that feels good.

  2. Wow! Congrats on that weight loss. I'd love to drop that much each week. I'm doing good to get 2 or 3 at a time. Oh, well. It's slow, but it's there. :D

Sounds like MaryAnna's got a dream room. :)
