Swap Material...

Well, I haven't done any quilting in quite some time now.  Other things have taken priority.  I always taught / teach my kids that they need to accomplish their "Have To's" before their "Want To's" so I need to be a good example.

Tonight is the Columbus Modern Quilt Guild meeting and I plan to take a long enough break from other "stuff" to attend tonight's meeting.  I will show off Jonathon's Quilt tonight and I will deliver fabric from the most recent Fabric Swap I am participating in (The Spoonflower Swap), as well as receive the fabric from the previous swap (Japanese Fabrics) I participated in.

Here is my Contribution to the Spoonflower Swap.  The theme is Eye Spy, so little prints were in order.  I found the perfect little print for a boy who likes robots.  "Lotsa Bots" by Diana Rich.  56 5" squares are submitted by each swapper, and then everyone receives 2 squares each of 28 different designs.

Aren't they just the cutest little robots!?

A little closer view... Some happy, some sad, some mean

Stack o' 56 squares
I enjoy swapping.  I get fabric that I might not otherwise purchase, and I get to give fabric that I might not have otherwise purchased.  What about you?  Do you like fabric swaps?

Until Next Time, (and hopefully that will include some actual sewing!!)

  2. I have never participated in a swap--don't belong to a guild or bee or anything. Not much of a joiner, but things like this make me reconsider the idea. : ) I do love the little robots in that fabric. Where has this been when I have been making quilts for my 3 grandsons?

  4. Years ago a friend asked me if I wanted to be in a cutting bee. I thought we would be getting together and cutting out, but no it was a fabric swap. We swapped fabric for just over six years. Each month we would buy 2 different fabrics that went with the theme and cut it into 6 inch strips. We didn't have to go to Bee each month, but our fabric had to be there!

We still meet once a month, but we don't swap fabric anymore. Although I have been using it, there is still a lot on the shelf, giggle. I need to look into some more scrap quilts.

Would I do it again? YES! I hope that I use some more of my fabric before I join another swap.

  5. That fabric is so cool! I see lots of tiny squares with single bots in. I have no idea what I'd do with them but I would certainly have fun trying to figure it out :)
I've only just found your blog, but with such awesome taste in fabric, I'm going to read more. And it's nice to "meet" a male quilter, I've met male knitters but you're the first quilter. Isn't it fun?

  6. Love the fabric. When I went to PIQF last year, I stayed at the Avatar Hotel near the Santa Clara Convention Center, and the lobby has a glass wall of shelves full of tin robots. It was great!

I don't belong to a guild, so I've never swapped.
